Nami-ne’s Band at “The Rokkou Island Live Concert” on May 17

5/8/2009

Nami Takenaka (Nami-ne), a Director of Prop Station (a social welfare organization which its head office locates in the Rokkou Island) was given the“Woman of Courage Award, Japan”by the United States Embassy on March 5.

Prop Station is a nonprofit organization that has made efforts for 20 years to improve independent living and employment opportunities for the Challenged (people with disabilities). Nami Takenaka, the delegate of the organization, has a daughter with severe physical and mental disabilities.

Nami-ne learned how wonderful music can be when her daughter smiled at her every time she sang for her. She then began a music career with other musicians several years ago, although she continued working for Prop Station.

“The Rokkou Island Live Concert” on May 17 will be held in commemoration of her award and to introduce Prop Station to foreign nationals who play active roles in Japan.

We hope that as many people as possible will join the event.
